In mid-July, Olympique de Marseille decided to terminate Dimitri Payet's contract. The attacking midfielder is now free to commit where he wishes.

One year from the end of his lease, Dimitri Payet was pushed out by his leaders, somewhat to everyone's surprise. Even if the Reunionese was no longer really part of the Club's plans, we still imagined that he would go to the end of his contract in a role of luxury joker while supervising the locker room. Pablo Longoria decided otherwise.

However, the French international did not want to end his career, as he had also explained at a press conference the day of the announcement: “I would like to continue playing football. I'm coming out of a very difficult season with little playing time. It's going to be hard... I just want to play, to find pleasure on the pitch, quite simply. The Club offered me, if I stopped today, a retraining. But I still have the ball and the pleasure to give“, he had confided.

Payet refused his former club

Several Ligue 1 teams would have come to take the temperature with the midfielder, including FC Nantes, but Payet declined the proposal, explains Saber Desfarges this Friday. The native of Saint-Pierre would not see himself wearing another jersey than that of OM, adds the journalist.

“The future of Dimitri Payet is not in France, despite the interest of various clubs, including Nantes. The player does not see himself replayed for a club other than OM and favors 4 foreign tracks“, writes the TF1 journalist on his Twitter account.

Recently, several rumors evoked touches in Turkey, but also in Saudi Arabia for the finalist of Euro 2016. Stade Rennais also watched the 36-year-old player, but everything suggests that he will no longer tread the lawns of the championship of France.
